I’m in Taiyuan now, and about to head off on a weekend trip to a very small town. There are very few foreigners here, but there, I’ve heard I may be the only one. Sounds like an adventure! Wish me luck!
Today I arrived in Beijing. The airport is REALLY large and I was surprised by how many trees you can see from the plane window as the plane landed. It almost looked like we were going to land in a random field without a runway at first. The new subway lines are obviously new (very clean). However, I have to say that, honestly, the easiest-to-use and most organized city subway system I’m aware of is that of Seoul’s in South Korea. Even if you don’t speak or read any Korean, it’s quite well set up to make transportation quick and convenient. But back to Beijing…I checked out Wangfujing today, a place famous for shopping, restaurants, and many tourists. I preferred our previous destination: Beihai Park, a relaxing and beautiful spot with 1000 years of history and a very large lake. Tomorrow I will take the train from Beijing to Taiyuan. It will be my first time to visit that city! I’m slowly adapating now from Korean culture & language to Chinese. After 36 days in South Korea, I guess I was really adapting. Time to adapt again!
In 7 hours I will leave South Korea and go to China. I may not return for 2 years. I will miss this country. Each city I visited has so much personality and character. There are so many places, stories, and people here that inspire me. I will always feel grateful to them. Recently, many people (even strangers) asked me: “Do you like (South) Korea?” It’s not an easy question to answer, since despite its small geographical size, South Korea is still a large and complex country with a long history and distinct culture. But I realized I do really like this country, because if I could, I would love to introduce you to the many interesting places, stories, and people that I have met here.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you enjoyed taking part in my journey.
