This is the entrance to the ancient city, which is surrounded by a 6-km (4-mile) long wall. Most of it was constructed in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The city contains one of the oldest banks in China, along with many traditional buildings and modern tourist gift shops. They hold an international photography exhibition in Pingyao every year as well.
