My Return to Canada
Today I traveled by plane from Xi’An to Beijing, and flew with my own arms from Beijing to Vancouver (technically all in one day). It was my 61rst Day in China, and my 97th Day in Asia. Therefore, I spent 97 days in total traveling abroad this summer. It has been quite a long time and I advise others to plan the length of the their travels very carefully. Naturally I’m quite tired and plan to spend the next few days resting and preparing for the new semester.
I’m hoping I can quickly return to the Canadian language, culture, and lifestyle. Currently, I feel somewhat like a Korean-American with amnesia who has been living in China for the past few years. Yet a random person here in Vancouver still randomly approached me and asked me to check her English grammar for an email (in the middle of a grocery store…the Dairy section). I’m fighting my current instinct to answer questions in Mandarin Chinese.
To conclude, this has been nothing less than a life-changing, eye-opening, skin-tanning, stomach-filling, knowledge-giving experience. And it does not end here, for I will continue to post my remaining pictures, videos, and some writings on “Life & Travel in China.”
Happy Travels & Safe Journeys,
